Development of Particle Swarm Intelligence based multicast routing algorithm for Mobile Ad hoc Networks(MANETs)
|
Optimal Route Selection is very challenging in MANETs due to the random mobility of nodes and lack of redundancy in multicast structures. We attempt to propose a new Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) based On Demand Multicast routing protocol(ODMRP) for optimizing the route selection for transmission of messages. This intelligent algorithm would be well suited for MANETs.

Development of Chemical Sensors for flu - gases
|
It is planned to develop Chemical sensors for measurement of the above gases.
The chemical or the combination of chemicals which changes its physical property like conductance or capacitance (any other property) by adsorption or absorption of the above gases can be processed by electronic circuits.
Apart from continuous indication of the gases, the signal so obtained will be compared with set point for generation of alarm to alert the operator

Brushless motors of high torque for robotics
|
Present DC motors have brushes which needs maintenance. Also the core is made of cold rolled silicon steel which saturates at magnetic flux density of around o.6 webers/m2. so It is planned to develop brushless DC motors with ferrite core which will not saturate even at two to three times the magnetic flux density saturation of silicon steel. With the use of ferrite core, high torque can be obtained. The supply voltage for the proposed motors will be in the range of 9 to 12 volts DC maximum. This can find application in the robotics and in many applications.

Multi Mega - Watt Power Generation Onboard Aircrafts
|
The advent of directed energy weapons that propagate energy over large distances at the speed of light has created a new challenge for flight vehicles: the onboard generation of multi-megawatts of electric power.
The concept of a photo-fighter air superiority vehicle provides a point of departure for visions of an effective airborne electric power plant. In order to imagine the nature of possible electric power plant systems for hypersonic aircraft it is valuable to have some concrete goals to strive toward. Although the high energy laser on board the Airborne Laser (ABL) is a megawatt-class weapon it is basically a gas dynamic laser that operates very much like a rocket engine by combining energetic propellants in a nozzle and extracting the chemical energy released by the propellants in the flowing system.
The technology push is for developing a high power solid-state laser that converts electrical energy into coherent electromagnetic beams. Advances in the projected power from solid state lasers is continuing, and is now at the stage where tens of kilowatts can be regularly produced. However, for an effective weapon it is considered necessary to project at least 100 kilowatts. As a rule of thumb, the efficiency of conversion of conventional electric power to laser power is about 10%, so at least one megawatt of electricity must be available to the weapon system. The weapon will not be firing throughout the flight so the power system must be capable of rapidly building power to apply to the load demanded by the weapon
