Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR Technical University signed two MOUs with WABCO TVS, one for projects for undergraduate engineering students and the other for imparting Part Time B.Tech degree programme in Mechanical Engineering for the employees of WABCO TVS to upgrade their technical knowledge & skills.
Inaugural and Induction Programme for 23 WABCO TVS employees, who joined Part Time B.Tech Degree Course was organized on 3 rd Nov 2010 at Mahatma Gandhi Auditorium in the University Campus. Prof.Dr.Vel.R.Rangarajan, Chancellor, Mr.P.Kaniappan, Whole Time Director, WABCO TVS, Dr. Sakunthala Rangarajan, Pro-Chancellor, Dr.Rangarajan Mahalakshmi.K, Chair Person & Managing Trustee, Mr.KVD.Kishore Kumar, Director, Dr.M.Koteeswaran, Vice Chancellor, Mr.Thiagarajan G.M.(TQC&HR), WABCO TVS graced the occasion.This is the first Part Time B.Tech Degree Course organized between an academic institution like ours with Leading Multinational company like WABCO TVS.This programme will provide a platform for sharing of experiences from both sides i.e. Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR Technical University and WABCO TVS and will make it more interactive. After the inaugural function, a presentation about the department of Mechanical Engineering & another presentation about the academic activities were made to the students by the planning department.

ACMEE 2010 - Auto Components and Machine Tools Engineering Exhibition - was held at Chennai, India during June, 2010. ACMEE provides an ideal platform for marketing innovative engineering technologies and products across the globe.
ACMEE 2010 would be an excellent forum for exchanging diverse product information, technical details and business contacts, besides market information and outsourcing potentiality.
ACMEE 2010 also included a student project competition, where 14 projects from VelTech Dr.RR & Dr.SR Technical University, VelTech MultiTech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College & VelTech HighTech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering Colleges were exhibitied.Our students projects were very much appreciated by all leading industry experts visited our stalls at ACMEE 2010.

Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR Technical University, Avadi, Chennai – 62, organized In plant Training – IPT 2010 inauguration ceremony on 16.5.2010 at 10.30 A.M. at Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR convention Centre.
The meeting was presided over by the Chancellor of Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR Technical University Dr.R.Rangarajan. Dr.M.Koteeswaran, Vice-Chancellor, VTU welcomed the gathering and traced the orgin & growth of Vel Tech Institutions & outlined the various MoUs signed by VTU with various Industries. He said that the Chancellor had introduced Vel Tech Mahatma Gandhi Merit Scholarships Scheme worth of Rs 7 Crores for 200 Engineering Students and formulated the In plant Training for 1600 Students in 95 industries for industrial exposure.
Dr.Mahalakshmi Rangarajan, the Chairperson & Managing Trustee, Vel Tech in her special address urged the students to utilitize the opportunity provides by the In plant Training. This was a special programme which would equip the students to make them employable.
The Chief Guest, Dr.T.Ramasami, Secretary to Govt. Of India, Dept of Science and Technology , shared his personal experience and highlighted that “expertise could be better than experience”. He also spoke about the distinct qualities of Education, Training & Research. Industries prefer trained people. He touched upon the symbiosis between Analaytical Engg. and Application Engg. He explained the product development process of know -how, show- how, do- how and use- how. Inplant Training gives an opportunity to the students to gain hands-on training experience in actual work places. He then distributed mementos to all the participating industries, kits and certificates to students.
Dr.E.Kannan, Registrar, Vel Tech Technical University falicitated the participants and thanked the industries for their cooperation.

Vel Tech 12 th Graduation Day
12 Th Graduation day of Vel Tech was held on 24/4/10 at 4 P.M at Vel Dr.RR & Dr.SR. Convention Centre. Prof. Dr. Vel R.Rangarajan, founder & Chancellor of Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR Technical University presided over the function.
Dr.M.Kotteswaran, Vice- Chancellor in his welcome address traced the growth and development of Vel Tech Technical University. In 200/, Vel Tech became Vel Tech Technical University. More than 700 graduates attended graduation day along with their parents. The Vice chancellor extended a warm welcome to the Honourable Union Minister and the graduates.
Dr. Mrs.Sakunthala Rangarajan, Pro.chancellor declared open the graduation function.
Shri, V.Narayansamy, Honourable Union Minister of State for Culture, Planning and parliamentary Affairs,& Member ( ICT), Planning Commission, Govt.of India.
Graduation day address pointed out that Govt. of India is spending 6% of its annual budgeted amount on education. The Minister described that India & China were competing at the global level. Both were advancing in all fields. India was having 55% of young people. Due to the economic policy of Dr. Manmohan Singh, India was an industrlized country. The Minister exhorted the graduates to be faithful to their parents, Thankful to the faculty and show gratitude to Vel Tech for their Technical education. The minister wanted atleast 1500 Universites to be established in the country. At present, only450 universities were functioning. The Minsiter wanted a greater role for the Private enterprises in the field of higher education.
The Minister mentioned about his close association with the Chancellor for the past 30 years. He pointed out the Vel Tech university is shining symbol of excellence. At present only 0.8% of fund was allocated by Govt. of India for research.
India was importing hardware at present. The country should improve its hardware output. The Minister concluded his address by thanking Dr.R.Rangarajan for having invited him for the graduation Day. Rank holders and other graduates received their degreees. The graduation day was declared closed by the Pro-Chancellor. |

The Pre-final year Vel Tech ECE Students, R.Parthibhan, S.N.M.Prabhu, S.Kasirajan & V.Sridharan of VELTECH have participated in a National Level Technical Project Exhibition conducted on 16-02-2009 at Meenakshi Sundararajan engineering college , and have won the 1 st prize, sided along with a scholarship worth 3000 Britain pounds ( 2.20 lakh rupees) awarded by BITE ( British Institute of Technology & E-Commerce ) in United Kingdom for Higher Education.
Project Name: ‘Automatic speed killer in bikes using RF transmitter & receiver’
Advantages: Reduce in number of fatal road accidents, improves the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. This project is a fruit to the present world petrol crisis scenario. |
