 CONGRATULATIONS on your successful admission to B.Tech Degree Programme in the VEL TECH Dr.RR & Dr.SR TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, Chennai. We hope your experience at the VEL TECH Campus during the Counselling was pleasant and helpful.

We want to assure you on behalf of the University that your stay and relationship with the University during the next 4 years will be equally pleasant, joyful, lively and full of enrichment.

We wish to assure you that the University, its faculty and staff will extend their fullest co-operation in appreciating your requirements and providing your needs. We promise that your Academic career in the VEL TECH Dr.RR & Dr.SR TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, Chennai will make you self-confident, honest, inquisitive, competitive and provide required levels of knowledge and skills in the discipline you have chosen. You will be able to apply the techniques that you learn during the course to solve live problems in your professional career thereafter.

As we have told you earlier, we have a strong Training and Placement Department, to impart adequate skills in team building, aptitude, multi-lingual potential and effective communication. As you know, we have Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with foreign Universities and also with multi-national industries in India and abroad. High percentage of placement has been the hall mark of VEL TECH.

We invite you to join our mainstream on 3 rd AUGUST 2011. We are aware that you will be in a new environment and with fellow students drawn from every State in India. It will be a great multi-lingual assembly, a rare opportunity to learn the traditions and customs of different parts of India.  

Welcome to Chennai!

Chennai is a Metropolitan city in Southern India. The weather throughout the year will be warm to hot during April-June. Though everything you may need will be available in the nearby AVADI Town, try to get all that you may require for the initial few days.

  • Provide copies of University address, Telephone number and Website address clearly noted to your household members to enable them to contact you easily.
  • Ascertain most suitable train to reach Chennai Central on 1 st or 2 nd.AUGUST 2011.
  • Be Careful with your cash and belongings while traveling. You may require a chain and lock & key to safeguard your package while traveling by train.
  • Do not accept eatables or drinks offered by any co-passenger, while traveling by train.
  • On reaching Chennai Central Railway Station, take the connecting train to AVADI Railway Station.
  • The University will arrange to provide a Reception counter at the Chennai Central Railway Station and Avadi Station to help the students for onward transportation to the University campus.
  • On reaching the University, proceed to Student Advisory Bureau / Information Centre, who will help you to find your place in the Hostel or meeting your other requirements.
  • If you have been already allotted the Hostel, you will be taken to the Hostel room and allotted a bed. You may get acquainted with your room mate.
  • RAGGING IS TOTALLY PROHIBITED in the Campus and on each floor of the Hostel there will be a Faculty squad and volunteers to help the new comers. So you need not worry about any harassment on this point. You also respond any queries politely and inform the volunteers, if there is any problem of any kind.
  • 24-hour running Hot water is available for bathing in the Hostel.
  • You keep your valuables under safe custody in lockers available in the Hostel. Do not display costly items of wear.
  • Smoking is totally prohibited within the vicinity of the University campus. Tobacco in any form is prohibited. No chewing or pan will be allowed.
  • You will be properly guided for going to the Mess and taking your food and the timings of service.
  • At the first week end, you will be taken on a sight seeing tour of Chennai.

ENTER VEL TECH Dr.RR & Dr.SR TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

 

The Chancellor Dr. R.RANGARAJAN, B.E.(Elec), B.E.(Mech), M.S.(Auto.E), D.Sc., Pro-Chancellor Dr. Mrs. Sagunthala Rangarajan, MBBS, Chairperson and Managing Trustee Mrs.Rangarajan Mahalakshmi. K, and the Director Mr. K.V.D.Kishore Kumar will meet you at 12 Noon on 3 rd August 2011 for an inaugural session. You will be informed about the various activities of the university and also the facilities available and the procedure for various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The information system will be explained to you.

BRIDGE COURSE

 

Since the first year students are from different States speaking different languages and have come from different medium of instruction and courses of different standards a Bridge course of 3 weeks will be held. The purpose of the Bridge course is to help students to refresh their memories of Higher Secondary level Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The most important aspect of the Bridge Course will be an intensive course in communication in English. This will help all the students to easily follow the lectures, which will be exclusively in English. This course will help and encourage every student to communicate easily in English with another.

The Administration is reviewing the individual marks scored in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in +2 to categorise the entrants to intensive course in Mathematics and Normal refresher course. Based on your performance in the +2, you will be accordingly allotted to intensive Mathematics coaching section or Refresher course section. The schedule for Bridge course will be available on our website www.veltechuniv.edu.in and www.vel-tech.org You can access the details by entering your VTUEEE11 number to find out the schedule.

The Academic schedule for 2011-12 will also be available on the website. Please download and keep a copy. Soon the Syllabus, Academic rules & regulations and Conduct code will be distributed to you before commencing of regular classes.

In order to follow the Bridge course effectively, We would advise you to brush up your +2 Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry subjects before you come here. At the end of the Bridge course, an assessment test will be held to assess your potentials and to plan for an appropriate coaching in different subjects. You will be assigned to a Counsellor with whom you can freely interact like the brother or sister and share all your thoughts, requirements, needs, problems, difficulties, etc. There will be faculty Counsellors, who will be able to speak your language.

You know that Engineering profession is very prestigious in India. Engineering Graduates are respected a lot in the society. Multi-national companies are ready to employ the successful engineering graduates. So, for the next 4 years, you will have to work hard, study well, do all the assignments in time, listen carefully in the classes, get your doubts cleared then and there, write all tests and examinations, attend all coaching classes. Of course, you will have plenty of time to play, to part take in symposium, seminar, conferences, meetings and cultural events. After the Bridge course assignment is over, the regular classes will commence from 24.8.20011.
