ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Electrical engineering is the application of the laws of physics governing electricity, magnetism, and light to develop new technologies to help humankind.

Electrical engineers have used their knowledge to create computer technology and software, neon lights, cordless telephones and refrigerators. If it involves electricity, it involves electrical engineering.

Electrical engineers are involved in the generation, protection, transmission, distribution and application of electrical energy: the electricity that lights our homes, helps us cook our food, and powers our machinery. They also make very important contributions to telecommunications, television and computer technology.

Communication, medicine, education, space exploration, defense and other critical sectors of our society and economy depend on electrical engineers for their design, analysis and effective use.

INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

Electronics is fundamental to many of the things we take for granted today. Everything from mobile phones to aircraft and medical equipment relies on electronics, and it is difficult to think of any area of life that has not been affected by electronics.

Engineers who specialize in electronic systems are concerned with the design, analysis and manufacture of electronic circuits and devices.

Design circuits for electronic fuel injectors; Program and operate computers to control thermostats all over a hospital; Develop computer parts for satellites which will withstand the harsh conditions of orbit.

Today, engineering in general - and electronics in particular - is an international business. Most of the well-known companies in electronics operate not just in several countries, but across continents. In order to compete in this situation, companies recruit engineers from around the world.

As an electrical and electronics engineering major at VEL TECH, you will work closely with top-ranked faculty to gain an understanding of the fundamental knowledge and theories that underpin modern engineering.
